The Family Literacy Involvement Program, or FLIP, is a collection approximately 300 activity kits created by the Children’s Museum of Houston through funding by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. You can bring FLIP to your city by purchasing a collection of kits to circulate in your community! You may use this website to purchase the kit plans for the collection that best meets the needs of your community and your audience. Purchase kit plans by clicking here.
Once you have purchased your kits, you will receive an electronic toolkit that includes all of the information you need to build and circulate your kits. FLIP works in different ways in different cities based on the organization that is implementing the program. In Houston, the Children's Museum of Houston has partnered with Houston Public Library to circulate over 3,000 kits through 35 of the library's branches. The Museum builds and replenishes kits. The Library transports kits to and from the Museum and other libraries for check out and replenishment using their courier system. The Museum houses all supplies and provides staff to replenish kits. For information on how other cities circulate kits, or to inquire further, please email Evelyn Dravis at email@example.com.
